Background: I am currently a geophysics PhD candidate at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. I hold a bachelors degree in physics with an emphasis in astrophysics, a masters in geophysics and minors in music and communications. I expect to complete my PhD in late 2008. While I have very little formal teaching experience at high schools, I have had a few years of TA experience at UC San Diego, and have tutored numerous high school and college students (40+) over the last five years in subjects ranging from pre-algebra to college level calculus and physics. Many of my students have drastically improved their grades and all have shown a greater understanding of the subject at hand. While I have no formal plans to teach professionally, on a college level or otherwise, it is something I thoroughly enjoy and hope to continue for the long term future.

In closing, I feel when a student crosses the line from confusion to understanding, through my part, by the exchange of knowledge, is an awesome moment; I hope that all of my students will be able experience this moment with me, on multiple occasions. Through my teaching and enthusiasm, I hope to inspire many of my students to become mathematicians, physicists and chemists.


Availability: I am available for tutoring on Monday, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and on weekends if necessary. My available hours are generally between 1800 and 2100 Monday - Thursday and after 1200 on Sundays.


Location: If you live in the Tierrasanta or Murphy Canyon area I will come to your house or some other pre-determined location. If you live outside of Tierrasanta, it would be best to meet at the public library in Tierrasanta at 4985 La Cuenta Drive. I may also be able to meet in the La Jolla area.


Rates: My rate is $30.00 per hour unless otherwise arranged. If meeting at your house and you live outside of Tierrasanta, a fuel surcharge may be necessary. Please read my contract for policy regarding cancellations, rates and "no shows". Group rates are available.


References: Over 95% of my tutoring students have been acquired through word of mouth by satisfied tutees and parents. If you live in the Tierrasanta area, feel free to ask around.
